It was created in 1999. Ever since then, the museum has become a new city symbol. Its display comprises more than 40 locomotives distributed in Ercilla´s Avenue and its square. These transportable steam engines, most of them of British origin, were used as a driving force in agricultural, industrial and forestry activities between 1860 and 1930. It was declared a National Monument in 2009.
